Tuck Point Blade

Price range: $63.99 through $109.00

Tuck point diamond blades are perfect for the removal of mortar from masonry joints and for routing decorative joints into stone work.

Builders and Bricklayers alike will find these tuck point blades useful to remove mortar between bricks when it is old, weak, cracked or damaged. It is also useful to have a tuck point blade when the “head joints” or “bed joints” need to be replaced.

A diamond tuck pointer blade removes mortar faster than a standard diamond blade due to the thickness of the blade. The segment width of the standard tuckpointing blades is 6.4mm so it is more efficient to run along the joint once with a thicker blade. They are suitable for both dry and wet use and our tuck point blades are for use on angle grinders.

Tuck Point Blade for Sale

Tuck Point Blade for Sale

Mortar joints in masonry—like those in brick, stone, terra cotta, or cinder block walls—gradually erode and crack over time. To restore the structure, you’ll need to remove and replace the old mortar in a process known as tuckpointing. This requires grinding out mortar to a depth of about 3/4 inch using one of our diamond tuck point blades.

Our tuck pointing blades (also called tuck blades) make this process quick and effective. They remove the old mortar cleanly, providing room for fresh mortar and a stronger, longer-lasting joint. A proper grind helps seal the structure from water, preserving the integrity of your masonry work.

Common Questions

How do you grind old mortar joints?

The best way to grind old mortar joints is to use a hand-held grinders and dust shroud attachment (used to protect you from concrete dust) with a tuck point diamond blade. You should grind out approximately 3/4 inch of the mortar to provide for adequate space for you to fill with new mortar.

What are tuck point blades?

Tuck point blades, also known as tuckpointing blades or tuck point grinder blades are a diamond blade that is thicker than the standard diamond saw blade. Tuck Pointer Blades are ideal for the removal of mortar joints, and for routing masonry surfaces (concrete, bricks, stone and pavers). While a normal diamond blade is only 3.2mm thick, a tuck pointing blade is wider like our standard 6.4mm wide tuckpointer blades.

This is the most common width of tuck blade as it suits the most common mortar width between brick joints.  Tuck point diamond blades work quickly and have a superior blade life and the best cutting ability. They are made from heavy-duty steel core, with powder metal/diamond dust segments. Our tuck point blades are usually used with hand held angle grinders and come in 3 sizes:

  • 4″ / 105mm
  • 4.5″ / 115mm
  • 5″ / 125mm
  • 7″ / 180mm

If you need a larger size for a demo saw or road saw, check out our loop blades for sale.

When would you use a tuckpointing blade?

Diamond tuck point saw blades are mortar removal tools used for crack repair by decorative and restoration contractor. They are perfect for prepping stone, granite, marble for new joints and brick cleaning.

Our tuckpointing blades are best used when

  • The “head joints” or “bed joints” need to be replaced
  • Mortar between bricks is old
  • Mortar is cracked or damaged
  • Mortar between bricks is weak
  • Routing decorative joints into stone work

What Is a Dual Sandwich Tuck Point Blade?

This blade combines two connected diamond blades to increase cutting width and improve performance. It’s commonly known as a tuck point grinder disc and is used for wide joints.

What Is a Sandwich Blade Used For?

Sandwich blades remove mortar fast and are ideal for prepping joints. They work on stone, concrete, granite, brick, and marble using an angle grinder.

How Deep Should You Grind for Tuckpointing?

You should grind to a depth of around 3/4 inch. This provides enough space for new mortar and strengthens the bond. Use a vacuum dust shroud to reduce silica dust exposure and keep your workspace safe.
